Mrs Foster’s Newsletter
It’s been a really busy few weeks in school with visits, garden parties, letter posting, weddings and all things SATs taking place!
Firstly, well done to our amazing Year 6 children who completed their SATs this week. Six tests, four days. You all did so good. Time for a breather this weekend!
Year 2 are in the middle of their three week period of SATs testing – we’ve kept it very low key and hopefully stress free for them by doing the tests in small groups over a longer period of time.
Thank you, parents and families too, for supporting our children through this week – I’ve added a poem to the bottom of this newsletter that I found whilst internetting last week. I believe it sums up how we all feel about our children, and how we feel at Whitefield Primary School.
It is a difficult time of year in school at the moment. As we move towards the May half term holidays, we remember even more Sadie Moss, our Year 6 pupil who died two years ago. We have been talking in school about holding a Whitefield Memories of You Day in memory of Sadie, and in remembrance of others who are no longer with us – I’ll be sending out a more detailed letter next week with our plans. Please keep Sadie and all her family in your thoughts and prayers over the coming weeks.
It is also coming up to the anniversary of the Manchester attacks, and we send our love from our Whitefield family to all of our colleagues and families at Tarleton Primary School who will be remembering their pupil Saffie next week.
It is that time of year when we are finalising plans for the last half term of the year and making plans for September.
Most importantly are the dates below that you need to have in your diary for the rest of this school year:

Thursday 12th July – end of year reports and SATs results out to parents
Friday 13th July - Friends of Whitefield Summer Fair
Monday 16th July – Year 6 Leavers Production
Wednesday 18th July – Year 6 leavers disco
Friday 20th July - End of Term
STAFF NEWS
Some of you may have seen a couple of adverts on the Lancashire teaching posts site for Whitefield. Mrs Huxtable has some fabulous news: she is expecting her first baby at the beginning of October. A playmate for Isla-Mae Keogh and for Mr Jackson’s first baby who is due in August.
And Mr Huntington will be leaving us at the end of summer to start a new post at a school in Lancaster so we are interviewing for their replacements next week.
As soon as we’ve appointed, I’ll be able to let you know after the half term who will be teaching your children next year.
A reminder to parents to check lost property before the end of this half term – all unclaimed and unnamed items will be disposed of on the final Friday.
BOLA NEWS
Don’t forget BOLA parents, the new booking system starts on Monday 21st May (this coming week) where you need to book and pay for your sessions in advance.

What will you be doing this weekend? Much discussion has been had in the staffroom about whether it will be watching the Royal Wedding or watching the FA cup final or both. I have particularly enjoyed ‘getting married’ this week to Mr Keogh and Mr Jackson during our assemblies and I expect the Royal Wedding on Saturday will be very similar. Enjoy your weekend whatever you are doing.
